Just looking at booking a hotel in Venice for 2 nights. The breakfast looks great but at £30pp each day it seems steep! However I’ve heard Venice is really expensive so wondering if it will be cheaper to book breakfast as well rather than be stung £10 for a coffee and £15 for a croissant!

What hotel are you staying at? And is the breakfast cumulative per each person for your entire stay?

The hotel I stayed at in Venice (twice) had a very extensive breakfast buffet included in the hotel rate. It was no where near 30 pounds extra, maybe 15 Euro for one person for 5 days.

I have also found that most Italian breakfasts include a variety of pastries, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cold cuts and tomatoes.

But it may all depend on where you stay, too.

Perhaps look and see if you can find photos and reviews online (booking.com is a great resource if the hotel is listed on there). If people are complaining about "just coffee and croissant" or that breakfast was "overpriced" in the reviews vs. saying there was a "great breakfast," that's how you will know.

That seems a bit steep but as mentioned above see how the buffet looks in pics or what the feedback is in reviews. For a large buffet with hot items, yogurt, fruit, juice, multiple cappucinos, etc. the buffet might be a better value than a coffee and croissant/cornetto standing up at a nearby bar.

A coffee and a croissant at a bar would cost about 6 euro.
