The Harbourview

4 Harbour Rd., Hong Kong, n/a Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China

Why We Like It

Rooms and culinary options are dependable but the Harbourview is all about location and value.

Fodor's Expert Review

Travelers after a solid hotel with great links to the harbor Exhibition Convention Centre will find a relative bargain in the shape of the Harbourview. Sure, there’s nothing like the luxury and grandeur found at the nearby Grand Hyatt and Renaissance Harbour View but the elegant guestrooms and great Wan Chai location make this hotel a no-brainer.

Tip The hotel’s great location close to the Convention and Exhibition Centre and Wan Chai neighborhood makes it especially good for business and leisure visitors.

Room

Most of the classically decorated 206 rooms come with some view of the Harbour. Given the affordable prices of rooms here, the neutrally decorated rooms are surprisingly comfortable with big beds and flat screen TVs.

You Should Know The décor in some rooms feels a lot more tired than others, so enquire before you book.

Bathroom

If there were portholes in the bathrooms then you could almost fool yourself into thinking you were in the bowels of a ship, such is the cabin-like look of the compact spaces. Big mirrors and combined bathtub showers are standard.

Lobby

Polished marble and plentiful staff are the key highlights of a lobby with a lingering corporate vibe. While pleasant, guests won’t feel inclined to hang out here.

Gym

A small fitness centre has guests covered for 24-hour workouts.

Dining

Business guests will appreciate the formal environment of the Mezz Floor whose restaurant is far quieter than the Harbour Restaurant in which the majority of guests enjoy the spoils of a broad buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Drinking

A relaxed bar area serves drinks and light snacks for occasions when the restaurant is overkill.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Trumping anything within the hotel itself, the location is the biggest highlight of the Harbourview. That’s not a dis to the hotel, it’s just that with the Convention Centre and Academy of Performing Arts to one side and the heart of Wan Chai on the other, guests really couldn’t be better placed to enjoy the perfect Hong Kong city location.

Restaurants

Fook Lam Moon (9-minute walk) is a trusted spot for dependable Chinese food, while nearby Zen (14-minute walk), follows a similar culinary route with a contemporary twist on its classic Chinese dishes.

Bars

While Pawn (11-minute walk) is primarily known as a restaurant, its bar is a hit. The Botanicals Bar creates beautiful cocktails that you can enjoy on the outside terrace. For drinks with a view, take the elevator up to the rooftop bar at Wooloomooloo (16-minute walk) and look out over the city.
