Fodor's Expert Review Simones Restaurant

A new generation of the Simone family is heading this renowned restaurant, which has won numerous awards and made founder, Patrizia Simone, a legend of the Melbourne food and wine scene. Simones serves its blend of traditional Italian cuisine with creativity in a 19th-century cottage in the middle of town. The menu shows off the family's passion for cooking rustic Italian food and using seasonal local produce, from stuffed zucchini flowers and handmade pastas to Welsh Black beef sourced from a local cattle farmer. Herbs and some seasonal vegetables come from the kitchen garden. Simones also has an eight-course degustation menu (A$110). Patrizia runs cooking classes as well.
