Fodor's Expert Review Club Med Turkoise

Grace Bay Rd., Grace Bay, Providenciales, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

In contrast to the other, more tranquil Grace Bay resorts, this property has a vibrant party atmosphere with nightly entertainment and even a flying trapeze—it caters to fun-loving singles and couples, as it has a no-child policy. That said, the resort attracts a diverse crowd, including longtime Club Med aficionados who fly in from North America and Europe for the “club” that started it all; water sports has always been the draw in what was the area's first major resort, but many now come to “join the circus." The resort had a major much needed overhaul recently. Standard Club rooms in the village are basic, but the Deluxe rooms offer a slightly nicer decor and in-room amenities; both are set in small, colorful bungalows dotted close to the widest stretch of Grace Bay Beach. Note that individuals wishing to join in on the fun may do so through a day pass or a dinner pass, which takes in all evening entertainment, for $89 each, or you can spend all day and night there (no room included) for $149 and enjoy all the food, drink, and amenities.

PROS

  • all-inclusive
  • one of the best bargains to be found on one of the best beaches in the world
  • adults only

CONS

  • even with some renovations, the rooms are tiny, basic, and dormlike
  • food is just so-so
  • summer camp atmosphere
