Why We Like It

Thanks to its location on the cusp between London’s busiest business district and one of its most creative neighborhoods, there’s plenty to love about the area surrounding the Andaz London Liverpool Street. Though big, the service here is on point, and guests will enjoy the chic environment and excellent variety of drinking and dining options.

Fodor's Expert Review

Sleek and stylish, the signature Andaz look is in full effect at the chain’s London Liverpool Street location. Chic, modern rooms complement the Victorian elegance of the site in the heart of the City, with nods in décor to both the financial history of the neighborhood and the creative street style of nearby Shoreditch. Great for business travellers and hipster hunters alike, the hotel is surrounded by both the sky scrapers of the city and the grittier shopping districts of East London.

You Should Know Liverpool Street is a busy business district that can feel hectic. While Shoreditch is more laidback, but no less busy, it is a 20-minute walk away.

Room

Inspired in part by the neighborhood, East London books and street style photographs decorate the contemporary rooms, colored in reds and greys, to inspire a sense of place. A great bonus; Wi-Fi, minibar snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and local calls are all complimentary.

Bathroom

Classy monochrome bathrooms come with bathtubs and showers (dependant on the room) and luxury REN bath products.

Lobby

The smart lobby is less a place to hang out than a spot to decide which of the various wining and dining spots to choose.

Gym

The hotel has a full gym and health club with pilates, yoga, and massage treatments available for guests to book.

Dining

From Japanese restaurant Miyako to the George Pub, the hotel has plenty of choice among its range of dining options. We like the Eastway Brasserie and its bistro classics.

Drinking

Drink it up in the George Pub, enjoy the wine and canape evenings in the 1901 Wine Lounge or get ready for a night out in East London with some cocktails at Catch Bar. Close to a neighborhood blessed with more bar options than anywhere outside of the West End, the hotel adds its own share of inspiring choices.

Tip The 1901 wine lounge serves afternoon tea from Wednesday-Saturday.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Liverpool Street Station is well connected by the Central Line, which will get you into Central London within 15 minutes, and also has national links. Cabs are the quickest way to get to Shoreditch, but the 20-minute walk does take you through some charming old streets if you decide to take the scenic back route—you’re also likely to stumble on the odd independent boutique, thrift shop or bar along the way.

Restaurants

Eat exceptional steak and wash it down with strong cocktails at Hawksmoor (10-minute walk). For Japanese/Peruvian cuisine with a view, try Sushi Samba (2-minute walk) on the 38th floor of the Heron Tower.

Bars

If it’s cool East London bars you want then make for any of The Owl and the Pussycat (13-minute walk), The Well and Bucket (17-minute walk) or the Ace Hotel Bar (13-minute walk). Alternatively, Nightjar (19-minute walk) is a gorgeous speakeasy bar with a romantic vibe perfect for a date night.
