Occupying a building from the late 1500s, this small hotel embraces tradition with features such as wood-paneled lounges with warming fireplaces. Bedrooms pleasantly mix antiques and reproductions; some have four-poster beds, others have pretty headboards. In the excellent restaurant you can sample British food from local sources, such as Kentish mutton with masala potatoes, or perhaps a fresh catch of the day with sea spinach and kedgeree.
