Why We Like It

This is an excellent choice if you're looking for a quality hotel with plenty of charisma in a quiet, attractive neighborhood and you don't mind being a little out of the way. The pluses: you'll get a brand new pool, steam room and sauna thrown all at a fairly reasonable rate.

Fodor's Expert Review

Named for the cabaret (a few doors down) where Josephine Baker cavorted, and for its proximity to the Eiffel Tower, this handsome Art Deco hotel was refurbished to cater to 21st century tastes. Reopened in 2017, the shiny new pool, hammam, and sauna are a big draw, unusual in a hotel that's more about comfort and convenience than luxury.

You Should Know This is an out-of-the-way neighborhood, but the hotel is set on an attractive street just down from the City Hall of the 15th arrondissement, meaning it's bright, safe, and close to plenty of amenities and restaurants.

Room

Bruno Borrione, the interiors star behind the marvellous five-star Prince des Galles hotel, worked his magic on these smart, functional spaces that feature glossy woodwork, sleek modern furniture, and carpets by Pierre Frey. Some upper-floor rooms have terraces with café tables, but don't expect views of the Eiffel Tower.

You Should Know Rooms range wildly in size, from about 140 to 420 square feet, but all are well thought out and even the smallest feel more cozy than cramped.

Bathroom

Sporty bathrooms offer walk-in rain showers or bath-shower combos and all the four-star amenities, including robes and slippers. Upscale Nuxe products are divine.

Lobby

Just off the reception area a sleek, wood-panelled lounge conjures a Paris living room ideal for relaxing with a drink and a newspaper. Coffee, tea, and a small honor bar, equipped with the standard wine and spirits are available all day, and in warm weather you can lounge at the outdoor terrace.

Pool

Slightly bigger than a lap pool, side whirlpool jets and a contra-current help you relax or get a fine workout before heading to the steam room or sauna.

Tip A locker room offers towels, robes, and your very own flip-flops.

Gym

A small gym has all the basic up-to-date workout machines.

Dining

A quality buffet breakfast is served in the airy breakfast room or on the central outdoor patio in warm weather.

Drinking

The small honor bar in the lounge offers a selection of wine, beer, spirits, fruit juices, and soft drinks all day and evening.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

About a five-minute walk from the Vaugirard metro station.

Granted the hotel is off the beaten path, but not so far from some of Paris's main attractions—the Eiffel Tower, for one—and in an attractive neighborhood with plenty of Paris flavor. It's on the same street as the City Hall of the 15th arrondissement, a lovely park, and the newly restored Jazz-age club Bal Blomet, where Josephine Baker charmed tout Paris, and within walking distance of the Luxemborg Gardens and the Montparnasse Cemetery.

Restaurants

Residents of the 15th like to think the pristine dining room of Neige d'Été is their secret domaine, but Paris gastronomes have discovered the masterly cuisine of chef Hideki Nishi. It's not cheap, but its tops for a standout meal in the neighborhood. A bit less virtuosic but equally satisfying, Naturellement is the go-to place for a standout Italian bistro meal with wines to match (both 5 minutes from the hotel).

Bars

Paris's cocktail bars du jour are not to be found in this neighborhood, but Le P'tit Gavroche café and bistro a few doors from the hotel is fine for a glass of wine or an apéro (2 minutes away). If you want to get fancy, why not pop up to the top floor of the Eiffel Tower and lift a glass at the Champagne Bar (10-minute walk)?
