Having almost totally transformed itself from an industrial port and refinery center in the past few decades, Georgia's capital city Batumi glows with newfound confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit. Rapidly growing numbers of tourists have taken note and are found just about everywhere in the city—gambling in the casinos, tanning on the beach, strolling the 10-km (6-mile) seaside promenade, and shaking it up on neon-lit nightclub dance floors.
