Why We Like It

This small boutique is big on design and style and a great option for anyone who loves art while being in the center of town. Attention to detail here is high, and with that you’ll find a warm and gracious level of service. There aren’t a bunch of amenities, it’s a small boutique, but you have access to the Continentale’s spa and the location will inspire you to explore rather than spending more time inside. Rotating art, a great restaurant and bar, and perfectly located for walking, the Gallery Hotel Art is a chic choice for stylish travelers.

Fodor's Expert Review

Part of the Lungarno Collection (a group of four hotels in Florence owned by Ferragamo), Gallery Hotel Art embodies its name as the entire property has a modern museum feel throughout. With rotating exhibits and a minimalist aesthetic, the hotel gives off an east-meets-west feel and prides itself on a high level of service. Ideally located in the heart of the city center, this chic boutique is an art-lovers dream and the perfect way to engross oneself into the artistic city that is Florence.

Room

Stylish rooms are a mix of Japanese and Italian motifs with hardwood floors, leather headboards, and oh-so-cozy cashmere blankets. Bose Bluetooth speakers are standard as are flat screens and multiple rooms have balconies with city views.

Slick bathrooms are decked out with tile floors and stone slab walls, have shower/tub combos, double sinks, and bidets. Ferragamo bath products are standard and take-home worthy.

Lobby

The lobby doubles as an art exhibition space with a single flat orange couch for surveying the collection. Art collections rotate yearly, so you’re almost always exposed to something new with each visit.

Spa

There’s no spa in the hotel, but guests can access sister hotel Continentale’s spa which is right next door.

Dining

The Fusion Bar & Restaurant is a gastronomic marvel with a mix of Japanese, Peruvian, and Mediterranean cuisines. For outdoor people-watching, there’s a terrace in the alleyway that’s a perfect spot for late afternoon drinks and snacks.

Drinking

At Fusion Bar & Restaurant, excellent mixologists prepare classic and unique cocktails to go along with the fusion styled food. A happy hour runs from 5-7pm where all drinks are 10 Euros.

Getting Around

The hotel is right next to the Ponte Vecchio giving you easy access to both sides of the Arno River. The location is truly ideal as it’s in the middle of the city center and walking to every major attraction, fantastic restaurants, cool bars, and solid shopping is a breeze.

Restaurants

For more traditional Italian with a twist, check out sister hotel Portrait’s Caffé dell’Oro (1-minute walk). If you want to try some Michelin-starred fare, head over to Ora d’Aria (3-minute walk) which serves up sizzling Italian delights.

Bars

The rooftop bar La Terrazza (1-minute walk) at Continentale is the perfect perch for people-watching and city views with classic cocktails. For a rowdier scene, head across the river to Piazza Santo Spirito where a half-dozen bars bring in flocks of flirting Florentines who eat, drink, and play in the piazza from sundown to sun up.
