Fodor's Expert Review The Bateman Gallery
Downtown Victoria
Fodor's Choice
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This small but impressive gallery displays more than 100 works—from etchings to paintings—spanning seven decades in the career of Canada's best-known wildlife artist. One gallery, where paintings are matched to birdsongs, is especially innovative. The historic waterfront building, Victoria's original steamship terminal, is also home to a waterfront restaurant and a shop selling high-end local art. Proceeds from gallery admissions go to support the Bateman Foundation's conservation work.
