Fodor's Expert Review Alaskan Sourdough Lodge
1104 Peninsula St., Wrangell, Alaska, 99929, USA
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
A rambling inn on the south side of the harbor, five blocks from downtown, the Sourdough began life as a construction camp, and traces of its rough-hewn origins remain today. The hallways are tight and rooms are modestly furnished, though the private suite, handicapped-accessible and large enough for six people, has a large bathroom with a heated floor and a hot tub. The lodge offers a complimentary Continental breakfast and a courtesy van to the airport and ferries. Hearty home-style meals, including fresh seafood, are also available for those not staying here (reservations essential).
PROS
- Continental breakfast included
- excellent home-style dining
CONS
- tight hallways and sparse furnishings
- pets aren't allowed
