Why We Like It

We love The Venetian for its unapologetic opulence. Yes, it’s a themed resort, but something about it feels timeless. No detail is too small here, and the service is impeccable.

Fodor's Expert Review

This theme hotel re-creates Italy's most romantic city with meticulous reproductions of Venetian landmarks. Some of the Strip's largest and plushest accommodations are found at this gilded resort that's a hit with foodies, shoppers, and high rollers alike. It's all about glitz and \"wow\" effect here, which makes it a popular property if you're celebrating a special occasion or looking for an over-the-top Vegas experience. Each 650-square-foot suite offers a sunken living room with a coffee table and convertible sofa, walk-in closets, a separate shower and tub, two flat-screen TVs, a multimedia hub, and remote-controlled curtains. The even posher Venezia Tower has a garden, private entrance, fountains, and gargantuan suites.

Tip From the Strip you enter through the Doge's Palace, set on a walkway over a large lagoon. Inside, Renaissance characters roam the public areas, singing opera, performing mime, jesting, even kissing hands.

Room

It’s hard to overstate the opulence and size of The Venetian, an Old World ode hospitality. Restaurants, bars, suites, shops and gondolas are all contained within, all delivered with some of the luxurious service you’ll find in Las Vegas. It’s Venice without the flooding and the pigeons. The rooms are all suites, generously sized and well-appointed. Rest up on oversized, pillowtop king bed or entertain in the ample-sized living room. You'll want to stay awile.

Tip Room service will bring you food from any restaurant on the property, for a price.

Bathroom

Plenty of square footage devoted to the bathroom, where you’ll find a jetted tub, a separate glass-enclosed shower with two showerheads and a bench seat, a double-sink vanity and a dry vanity with a makeup mirror.`

Lobby

The Venetian’s lobby is a Renaissance-inspired masterpiece. Muraled ceilings, intricate columns and gold accents abound. It’s like a painting come to life.

Tip Walking from the hotel lobby into the casino is one of the great experiences in Las Vegas: overhead, reproductions of famous frescoes adorn the ceiling; underfoot, the geometric design of the flat marble floor provides an Escher-like optical illusion of climbing stairs. On a lake in front of the casino visitors can take gondola rides and look out on the Strip.

Pool

Between The Venetian and its sister property The Palazzo, there are 10 pools in which you can take a dip during the hot summer months. If you’re here in the winter (yes, there is winter here), check with the hotel which ones are heated.

Spa

The Canyon Ranch SpaClub sets the bar high, with 62 treatment rooms offering massages, body treatments, and facials.

Tip It's open late on most weeknights.

Gym

There is a 21,000-square-foot fitness center that features everything you need, including a 40-foot rock-climbing wall, so you can burn off the many calories you will inevitably consume while you’re here.

Dining

There are so many dining options at The Venetian that you can spend two weeks here and not hit them all. But your first stop should be Bouchon, which is not part of Restaurant Row. To get there, take the elevator in the Venezia Tower to the 10th floor. Beyond the opulent lobby, you’ll find Bouchon’s semi-obscure entrance. Then step into one of the most gorgeous dining rooms you’ll find anywhere. The view from the patio is spectacular, but the food? Even more so.

Tip Restaurant Row shines during brunch, and you’ll have a hard time choosing between Chica, Yardbird or Sugarcane, which are all within shouting distance from each other. But trust us, you’ll want to try them all.

Drinking

The Dorsey is hands down one of the most refined drinking establishments in the city. The library (with real books!) and the innovative fireplace (go ahead, put your hand in the “flames”; it’s a vapor gas that looks very much like the real thing) make you want to lean in to your companion and really engage in conversation. Order the famous Penicillin cocktail, which will cure anything that ails you.

You Should Know The Venetian is massive, as in your Fitbit is going to need extra charging. Prepare to walk a lot within the property if you’re planning to browse through the Grand Canal Shoppes. You can always take a break and go for a gondola ride.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The Venetian is almost center-Strip, and there are certainly walkable destinations nearby, as long as you’re up for dealing with the throngs of tourists on the crosswalks.

Restaurants

Wynn Las Vegas (15-minute walk) has plenty of dining options including Mizumi, SW Steakhouse, and Costa di Mare. If you want to go off-Strip, Sparrow & Wolf (8-minute drive) in Chinatown is one of the best restaurants in town.

Bars

You can’t go wrong with either Parasol Up or Parasol Down, also at Wynn.
