Fodor's Expert Review

Small and peaceful with a wonderfully picturesque, secluded setting about 5 miles south of Downtown Santa Fe, this three-room B&B is run by friendly artists who are also quite happy to provide guests with astronomy lessons on clear evenings—in this setting virtually free of light pollution, you can see a canopy of brilliant stars in the evening. During the day, you can relax lush gardens, koi pond, gazebos, and benches and tables, observing the many hummingbirds who inhabit the lovely grounds.

You Should Know Ravens Ridge is in a rural setting and isn't the best choice if you wish to be close to Santa Fe's historic center.

Room

The B&B has a pair of conventional rooms and one larger casita. The cozy Garden Room is set just off of the lush gardens, and the romantic Starlight Room, so named because you can fall asleep while watching the stars through a skylight, is larger and is warmed by a kiva fireplace. The roomy casita is a good choice for small families (extra guests can sleep on the queen-size sofa bed in the living room), and there's a well-stocked kitchenette. All of the accommodations have their own private entrances.

Bathroom

The bathrooms at this small inn all have distinctive decorative touches, from sinks with colorful Mexican tilework to

Lobby

Chile ristras and oil paintings by the talented innkeepers adorn the breakfast room, which functions as the inn's lobby area and is anchored by a long dining room table. In warm weather, the extensive grounds are where most guests prefer to spend time.

Dining

Raven's Ridge is well-regarded for its superb full breakfasts, which include a main cooked-to-order course along with fresh fruit, juice, fine coffee and tea, and other fixings. Enjoy your meal at the long table in the breakfast room, or if weather permits, out in the sunny garden area, which has ample seating.

Drinking

There's no bar or restaurant on-site, and the inn is a 10-minute drive from the nearest grocery or liquor store, so consider stocking up before you arrive. The gorgeous grounds are lovely for enjoying a glass of wine in the late afternoon. Each room has wine glasses and a corkscrew.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The B&B is on a quiet lane in the foothills on the southeastern end of Santa Fe, set well away from Downtown and any commercial districts. It's highly recommended that you have a car to stay here, and there's nothing much within walking distance, public transit is impractical, and even using Uber more than a couple of times would likely exceed the daily cost of a rental car.

Restaurants

One of the few businesses within walking distance of Raven's Ridge, Harry's Roadhouse (12-minute walk or 3-minute drive) is also one of Santa Fe's most inviting venues for breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, and dinner. The eclectic menu features delicious egg dishes and tres leches French toast, and tempting burgers, pizzas, stews, and salads—along with famously rich house-made desserts—are served the rest of the day. It's not fancy, but Pecos Trail Cafe (5-minute drive) is fairly close by and serves reliably good, authentic northern New Mexican fare.

Bars

You won't find many bar options nearby, but the lively El Dorado Taphouse (12-minute drive) features the excellent local craft brews of Santa Fe Brewing. It's also worth the drive downtown to sample the outstanding craft cocktails and enjoyable people-watching at trendy Secreto Lounge (15-minute drive).
