345 Meeting St., Charleston, South Carolina, 29403, United States, Charleston, South Carolina, USAWhy We Like It
For travelers wanting a comfortable place to lay their head in a tip-top location, this perfectly placed chain hotel delivers. The outdoor pool is a big perk, too, for summer visitors.
Fodor's Expert Review
Location is key at this centrally located standard Hampton Inn, which is housed in a former warehouse built in the 1800s. In fact, it’s within a block of the Visitors Center, Charleston Museum, and Marion Square, where festivals and farmers markets are held nearly year-round. The comfortably appointed lobby stars a fireplace—outdoor perks include a pool and pleasant courtyard with shaded bistro tables.
Tip For families, cribs, high chairs, and babysitting services can be provided upon request.

Room
Nineteenth-century period reproductions and an old-school palette fill rooms and suites. Comfortable beds with crisp sheets are the stars of the show; flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges add modern conveniences (though not all rooms have the latter two).
You Should Know Rooms—especially those with king beds—are quite tight, so don’t expect much extra space to stretch your legs. Also, some suites are showing light wear and tear.
Bathroom
A granite vanity with Neutrogena products and towel-filled cubbies spruce up the basic bathrooms.
Lobby
A wide and welcoming lobby offers plenty of seating and iced refreshments for the taking. Pine floors and oriental rugs add a touch of historic charm to the space.
Pool
The fair-sized open-air pool makes cooling off from a day spent exploring easy.
Gym
Pack your sneakers: a basic onsite fitness center is available for rainy-day workouts.
Dining
Fill up on the hotel’s complimentary breakfast, which includes both hot and cold items and is served in the lobby. During the week, handy on-the-go breakfast bags make eating on the run easy.
What's Nearby
Getting Around
You’ll self park ($17 per day) in a nearby city garage and explore on foot from there. The complimentary DASH trolley is a smart choice for more efficient downtown sightseeing, and pedicabs and ride-share are easily available, as well. Drive to sights off the peninsula.
Restaurants
Some of Charleston’s best restaurants are just blocks from your hotel. Try Indaco (9-minute walk) for delicious pizzas and pastas. For a daily-changing menu of hearty, Southern-inspired fare served up in a handsome modern dining room, head to The MacIntosh (6-minute walk).
