Memphis has some of the biggest malls in the South, places where you can find just about anything you might want, from Southern cooking to high fashions.
This is also a great town for antiques, bookstores, souvenirs, and, naturally, Elvis memorabilia.
The Mid America Mall, on Main Street between Beale and Poplar, is one of the nation's longest pedestrian malls—known for its trolley rides and people-watching as well as for shopping. It has maintained the architecture of an older, more neighborly Memphis.
Oak Court Mall, in the busy Poplar/Perkins area of East Memphis, has about 60 stores, including two department stores (Macy's and Dillard's).
Overton Square, a three-block shopping, restaurant, and entertainment complex, has upscale boutiques and specialty shops as well as numerous restaurants and several theaters.
Peabody Place, at 3rd Street and Peabody Place Avenue, has numerous shops and restaurants and a multiplex movie theater.
At Wolfchase Galleria, 18 miles east of downtown Memphis, the four anchor stores are Macy's, Dillard's, Sears, and JCPenney. A large carousel attracts scores of children, and there's also a multiplex cinema.
