Why We Like It

Hotel gyms are often a footnote, but at Hotel Bellevue at Club Bellevue, the fitness center is the marquee amenity. Guests have full access to the state-of-the-art facility, which includes multiple pools and tennis courts. The luxurious hotel is equally inviting for those who enjoy nothing more than relaxing and maybe indulging in a spa treatment or two.

Fodor's Expert Review

The fitness-obsessed will flip when they visit this architectural jewel in downtown Bellevue. Guests have full use of the Bellevue Club's 200,000-square-foot private athletic club, which boasts multiple pools and tennis courts among other state-of-the-art offerings. That said, the luxurious rooms and an on-site spa will please even travelers whose most strenuous form of exercise is lifting the remote. Kids are pampered, too, with special youth amenities, classes, and camps.

You Should Know If you're planning a trip focused on Seattle attractions, keep in mind that Bellevue involves a trip across a bridge and traffic can be a headache. You'll need a car to stay at this hotel and explore elsewhere.

Room

Deluxe rooms are luxurious but a bit on the lackluster side. Think masculine decor in neutral hues. It's definitely worth splurging on an upgrade here. Premium rooms feature a fireplace and balcony, while first-floor Club rooms have 20-foot ceilings and a pretty terra-cotta patio set amid landscaped gardens.

Bathroom

All of the elegant marble, limestone, and granite bathrooms have geranium-mint bath salts and a television speaker.

Lobby

The lobby features warm, rich decor and several seating areas.

Pool

Love to swim? This is your hotel nirvana. The Bellevue Club's natatorium has a 25-yard recreational pool, a 25-meter competition pool, and a two-level whirlpool. Skylights flood the space with natural light.

Adjacent to an outdoor dining area, a 60-foot outdoor swimming pool is bordered by garden plantings and a spacious slate deck.

Spa

The attractive spa features massages, body treatments, facials, and mani-pedis.

Gym

The most exclusive gym on the Eastside, Club Bellevue is a fitness-lover's dream. Featuring striking contemporary architecture, the athletic club offers just about everything, including several pools, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash and racquetball courts, four cutting-edge workout studios, yoga and pilates studios, a full gymnasium with an indoor running track, and a rock-climbing wall.

Dining

Polaris specializes in seasonal, local fare, like wild sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay and Pernod-drizzled mussels from Penn Cove. The wine list features chef-recommended pairing options. The hotel also has a casual restaurant, Splash, the perfect post-tennis spot.

Drinking

The sophisticated Cosmos Lounge features cocktails and wines with lighter fare.

Restaurants

Dining options abound in Bellevue. Many are chains like The Cheesecake Factory, but a few rival the culinary offerings of Seattle. Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar (5-minute drive) is a local favorite, spotlighting regional catches such as salmon, halibut, crab, and oysters, along with "Tastes from the Land" choices like Wagyu meatballs and smoked duck salad. At lunch, a raw bar offers classic nigiri and sashimi. In the middle of downtown, amid Bellevue's glittering skyscrapers, El Gaucho (5-minute drive)has an old-school steakhouse feel, from the dim lighting to the tinkling piano in the background. The steaks are expensive but excellent.

Bars

Oenophiles should head to Woodinville Wine Country (15-minute drive), where more than 90 wineries and tasting rooms await, including the beautiful Chateau Ste. Michelle. If you plan to make a day of it, it's easy to arrange transportation. The craft booze scene isn't as big in Bellevue as it is in Seattle, but Lot No. 3 (5-minute drive) serves inventive cocktails and gastropub fare.
